If I were to count, there are four CTC members who have achieved Microsoft Gold Certified status. Well another has joined the ranks. Microsoft has announced that Forza Technology Solutions attained Gold Certified status in the Microsoft Partner Program with a competency in Network Infrastructure Solutions.
While riding my bike a few Sundays ago, I ran into Kevin Bouley, President of Nerac peddling 50 miles in the local Multiple Sclerosis “Ride for the Cure.” Another CEO giving back was bkm’s Dan Sabia who also rode the 50 miles. It made me feel a bit insufficient riding the shorter distance of 25 miles compared to these two titans of the trails.
Eric Knight, Connecticut’s Rocket Man, is attempting to launch the National SOS Radio Network, a volunteer operation, staffed by ham radio and GMRS radio operators nationwide. The public emergency network would be comprised of the 100 million Family Radio Service (FRS) radios (“walkie talkies”) already in use for camping, boating, hiking, biking, and would be pressed into service in the event of a national emergency, or a local one for that matter. They are the very same radios you can buy at places like Wal-Mart for as little as $15. A recent test was held. Stay tuned for an update.
I ran into Mike Levin recently and he informs he has joined the Litchfield Insurance Group as a senior vice president in their employee benefits practice area. Mike is a real mover and shaker type. I expect big news to come out of this northwestern Connecticut broker and member soon.
You might have missed this last month, but Connecticut could be home to the largest fuel cell project in the country when a Bridgeport plant is completed and will be able to power over 9,300 households with clean energy. The project, which is at the proposal stage, is a collaboration between member company FuelCell Energy, PurePower, LLC and the Connecticut Clean Energy Fund.
One of CTC’s FastTrack companies made the news recently when R. Douglas McPheters, President of HoloTouch, Inc. announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office recently issued U.S. Patent 7,054,045, arising out of the discoveries of McPheters, John Breitenbach and John F.W. Perry. This gives these guys an even more impressive intellectual property portfolio by protecting their ability to provide increasingly compact, touchless, holographic human-machine interfaces.
