Karen Buell, a self-proclaimed “data geek”, digital native, and strategic thinker; possesses 10+ years in banking with a focus on customer facing technology, UI/UX, and digital channels. Before moving to the fintech world, she created and managed PeoplesBank’s Customer Innovation Lab in Holyoke, MA, where she was instrumental in implementing new technologies like the BusinessExpress lending platform which provides loans to small businesses in less than 5 minutes. More recently she’s brought her financial services expertise to Payveris, a growth stage digital payments company in Cromwell, CT, heading up Operations and Client Support. An MBA graduate from the University of Massachusetts – Isenberg School of Management, Karen has completed PeoplesBank’s Management Development Program, Ritz Carlton’s Gold Standards of Legendary Service, Leadership Holyoke, numerous leadership development trainings, business intelligence courses through Villanova University, and been honored with BusinessWest’s Forty Under 40. In undergrad, she studied Business Administration and Communication at Houghton College in beautiful Western New York, where she met her husband Chris – also a collegiate athlete and business major. They reside in Holyoke, MA with their two small children and enjoy DIY projects, playing sports, traveling, and volunteering at their church. Karen is a Financial Peace University coordinator, giving back many hours to financial literacy, and serves on the Houghton College MBA Advisory Council.
