Seventy-Five Tech Companies to Watch Chosen for Summit

Will pitch and display before Angel and VC investors at Sixth Annual event

Half day of activities takes place November 1 at the Omni Hotel, New Haven

HARTFORD, Conn. (October 23, 2012) – The Connecticut Technology Council has selected 75 Tech Companies to Watch to participate in the sixth annual Innovation Summit, presenting to the public these relatively unknown early stage Connecticut firms with great potential to be fast growing firms in the near future. The seventy-five were selected from a larger group of nominees and most are recent start-ups with a few actually pre-revenue or still at the concept stage. A small number are small tech firms in business for a few years with significant revenues, which are expected to be big winners soon.

The 2012 Innovation Summit will run from 2:00 PM until 7:30 PM at the Omni Hotel in New Haven on Thursday, November 1. The annual event, presented by the Connecticut Technology Council and Crossroads Venture Group, provides entrepreneurs, angels, venture investors, corporate business development executives, job seekers and business service providers an opportunity to network, while the selected firms receive an opportunity to meet the press and potential investors. The Innovation Summit is expected to attract 400 attendees.

“This year’s companies to watch are an exciting and eclectic group. They represent a diverse group of early stage teams with great potential for growth and success,” said Matthew Nemerson, President  & CEO of the Connecticut Technology Council, “it is always amazing and revealing how many new firms pop up each year.”

The program includes a poster fair featuring the technologies and services of the designated Tech Companies to Watch, a “Personal Pitch Fest” where firms present privately to a panel of three VCs and Angels (which concludes with the selection of one overall winner) and an awards presentation for the top company in each of these Innovation Summit awards categories:

  • Most Promising New Technology Product
  • Most Promising Software Product
  • Most Promising New Internet/New Media Company
  • Most Promising Life Sciences Product
  • Most Promising New Green/Environmental Product

This year’s event is made possible by four presenting sponsors Cantor Colburn LLP and Dickstein Shapiro LLP, the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology (CCAT) and First Niagara Bank.
