Connecticut Technology Council Honors Emerging Technology Companies for Accomplishments and Potential at Seventh Annual Connecticut
Innovation Summit
76 “Tech Companies To Watch” Showcased Innovative Technologies, Six Winners Named

HARTFORD, Conn. (November 7, 2013) – Nearly 450 entrepreneurs, investors and service providers gathered on November 7, 2013, at The Toyota Presents Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford for the Seventh Annual Connecticut Innovation Summit; a gathering of entrepreneurs, investors, and those who want to learn about and celebrate Connecticut’s top innovators and intriguing high-potential companies. The 76 Tech Companies To Watch were identified by the Connecticut Technology Council (CTC) as having the best potential to be a successful enterprise. The 2013 CTC event was produced in concert with Crossroads Venture Group, CTNEXT, Angel Investor Forum, and CURE.

The day began with a “funding fair” where all attendees had the opportunity to meet with a variety of exhibitors representing different types of funding sources including venture capital firms, banks, and angel groups.  Also exhibiting were premiere professional service providers offering resources particular to entrepreneurs and emerging companies.

Simultaneously, Tech Companies To Watch participated in 15 minute private conferences with mentors who offered advice on such topics as marketing, IP protection, securing talent and fundraising. Both the funding fair and the one-on-one mentor meetings were new event activities this year.

As in previous years, the 76 companies also delivered three-minute pitches to judges in what was called the Pitch Fest. The five best rated pitches later competed for $10,000 in free services from the New Haven marketing firm Digital Surgeons. The winner, selected by audience vote, was American Oil Solutions, a Bridgeport company that recycles used hydrocarbon products, such as tires, and turns them into oil and other products through a closed-loop pollution-free process. American Oil Solutions seeks to become the market leader in hydrocarbon product recycling. The four other Pitch Fest Finalists were eBrevia Inc. out of  Stamford, LearnToProgram Inc. out of Vernon, SHARKMARX out of East Hartford, and Tangen Biosciences LLC out of Guilford.

The highlight of the Summit was the TCTW expo where the 76 companies showed off their technology to attendees and talked with potential investors and customers.

The Summit concluded with the awards ceremony and the presentation of five “most promising” awards as follows:
1. Most Promising Technology Product of the Year – MediaCrossing, Inc., Stamford. MediaCrossing serves the needs of select publishers, marketers, and agencies as a digital media trader in guaranteed and programmatic digital media.
2. Most Promising Software Product of the Year – Device42, LLC, New Haven. Device42’s product is a comprehensive data center management software tool for IT infrastructure teams.
