The Carbonaceous Syn Fuels, LLC Company Profile

The Connecticut Technology Council posed the following questions to Neil Livingston, President of Carbonaceous Syn Fuels, LLC.

  • Description of products or services

Carbonaceous Syn Fuels designs synthetic fuels and fuel enhancements for the next millennium. Our products re-cycle gases such as CO and CO2. We can strip the carbon from the compound and add hydrogen to form endothermic hydrocarbons. Our only by-product is free oxygen. What makes us unique is that we don't work with feed-stocks that compete with food items such as corn or any other organic material. And because we can create the desired chemical composition through molecular engineering, our end products do not have contaminants such as mercury or other undesirable particulates. Another unique feature of our designer fuels is that we are able to isolate the perfect compound for use as aviation fuels. Carbonaceous aviation fuels have the same energy density as oil derived fuels, but burn cleaner and therefore can save millions in maintenance costs for owners of gas turbines.

  • Who are your competitors and how does your company distinguish

itself from them?

Our products will be a partial solution towards foreign oil independence and compete with other transportation fuel substitutes such as bio-fuels. Bio-fuels generally are blended with oil-based fuels. Carbonaceous on the other hand is not intended to be used as a blended ingredient. Our fuels are designed to replace current oil-based fuels.

  • What are the biggest business opportunities in your market over the

next 12 months?

Our biggest opportunities relate to military jet fuels known as JP-8 and commercial aviation fuels known as Jet-A. Once we fulfil the needs of these aforementioned markets, we can look at gasoline and diesel fuels used for transportation.

  • What do you view as the greatest business challenge facing your company in the next twelve months?

The greatest business challenge currently facing our company is raising capital while still maintaining control of the company.
