HAB Technologies Launches People Powered Market Maps to Turn Information into Competitive Advantage for Businesses Empowers Decision Makers to Recognize and React to Opportunities and Threats Faster.

SHELTON, CT – October 18, 2005 – HAB Technologies LLC, a leading provider of people powered Internet search and collaboration technology, announced the launch of new Market Map systems tailored to help businesses find, recognize and react to opportunities and threats faster, easier and more affordably. Built by our search experts within HAB’s XtremeShare™ collaborative taxonomy software, highly customized Market Maps provide our client partners with powerful, intuitive and exclusive views of market and competitive information to significantly impact their ability to compete and boost their bottom line.

Obstacles and Costs to Online Searching
The University of California’s study, “How Much Information”, estimates that the equivalent of 500,000 Libraries of Congress (19 million books and print collections x 500,000) is created each year. They also estimate that over ninety nine percent of the Internet’s content resides in the deep web (databases, archives, and other content created on demand), which is typically inaccessible by the large public search engines. Research firm IDC’s study, “The High Cost of Not Finding Information”, found that knowledge workers spend 15% - 35% of their time searching for information with a success rate of less than 50%. They also found an additional $5,000 per year per worker is spent on recreating information in reports and other products that already exists, and estimate lost opportunity costs to be as high as five times the cost of wasted search time.

Virtual “Intelligence Teams” Create Advantages and Slash Costs
“Unlike technology-based search and retrieval services, our Market Maps are powered by human search and classification experts who can think about information the way our customers do,” said Buff Bowen, President of HAB Technologies. “Ten years of Internet search and directory management experience has taught us that there is still no substitute for human intelligence for finding, filtering and managing information the way people need to think about it and use it. Our virtual “intelligence teams" scour the surface Web and the deep Web armed with the ability to find, recognize and “map” the information our customers need to facilitate precision search and discussion to support increasing demands for rapid decision and execution cycles”, claims Bowen. “Our piecework-based model has proven to be a cost-efficient, measurable and successful solution for turning information into competitive advantage as well as slashing search costs.”

XtremeShare™ Software – See More and Do More with Information
XtremeShare is everything organizations need to share information, documents and discussions anytime, anywhere. XtremeShare’s map taxonomy provides a wider and more intuitive view of information than top-down hierarchical displays. Users can organize and share information the way they need to think about it, and use it within flexible permission-based folders. Secure Web browser and Windows® desktop user interfaces can run concurrently, enabling teams to create Web portals and/or use client-server connections for more powerful information handling capabilities. An intelligent discussion server filters the most active discussions to the top and moves the rest below to keep users up-to-date faster. Discussions can also be turned into information Items to support mapped subject folders. XtremeShare requires no IT setup or support.
