Two Connecticut Technology Council Board Members
Appointed to State Economic and Technology Development Posts
Elaine Pullen, Chair of CTC and Chief Technology Officer of Gerber Scientific, Inc., has been appointed Chair of the Board of Directors of Connecticut Innovations, a non-profit group with the mission to stimulate high-tech growth in Connecticut through the management of programs and funds that target areas critical to growing a strong technology community in the state. Those funds include: Eli Whitney Fund, Connecticut BioSeed Fund, BioScience Facilities Fund, Connecticut Clean Energy Fund, Yankee Ingenuity Technology Competition, Technology Test Bed Program, and Next Generation Ventures.
Michele Macauda, Vice Chair of CTC and President of SBC Communications for Connecticut, has been appointed Chair of the The Governor's Competitiveness Council. Composed of CEOs from a cross-section of industries, legislative leaders, heads of key educational institutions, labor representatives, officials of industry associations and several state commissioners, the Governor’s Competitiveness Council monitors Connecticut industry cluster progress and finds ways to enhance and support it. With the Council's support, a number of other cluster-related projects have taken shape over the last year in areas including lean manufacturing, workforce development, legislation, transportation, infrastructure, capital availability, regulatory and tax climate, international trade and marketing. These cross-cutting issues are a significant part of improving the state's business climate.
The Connecticut Technology Council (CTC) is a non-profit business association of the state’s leading technology companies. Headed by Council President and CEO, Matthew Nemerson, CTC works to create a powerful statewide network of collaborators, innovators, and entrepreneurs, and political leadership to advance a progressive agenda that supports a culture of innovation and growth.
