STR Holdings Names New CEO
December 2011 - New member STR Holdings and 2011 Marcum Tech Top 40 winner, has a new President & CEO. Robert S. Yorgensen has succeeded Dennis L. Jilot as STR’s Chief Executive Officer and President. Yorgensen assumed his new role January 1. Mr. Jilot will continue as Chairman of the Board of Directors. Yorgensen had been President of STR’s solar encapsulant business for the past 14 years, during which time annual revenue grew from $5 million to $259 million.
Xerox Acquires LaserNetworks
January 2012 - Xerox, the Norwalk-based developer of office imaging and printing technology, announced the acquisition of Canada's LaserNetworks, a firm that provides print device tracking, centralized service and supply management and document routing. "Our acquisition ... expands our services footprint in Canada, enhancing our capabilities and distancing us from our competitors,” said Mandy Shapansky, president and CEO, Xerox Canada. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Covidien Agrees to Buy Barrx for $325M
November 2011 - Hartford Business Journal - Drug and medical device maker Covidien PLC,
with a North Haven surgical-tools plant, said
that
it will buy privately held Barrx Medical Inc.,
a company that uses radio frequencies to treat
a syndrome often the result of heartburn, that
can lead to esophageal cancer. Covidien expects
to complete the acquisition by Jan 31.

to market an HIV treatment from German pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim pharmaceuticals whose U.S. headquarters is Ridgefield. Such compounds target the key component of HIV responsible for incorporation
